Medication Aide Certification Requirements

One of our business partners, Healthcare Workforce Training Institute, recently brought to our attention a misunderstanding by some nursing facilities of what constitutes appropriate medication aide certification training for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) in a nursing facility setting.  Some facilities believe that the 14 hours of training required in the Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) setting is sufficient for the nursing facility.  This is incorrect.  The 100 hour training course designed for CNA’s who work in the nursing facility setting is required. Training details and a list of approved training providers can be found here:  https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/regulations/nh/medaides-requirements.htm

WHCA/WiCAL wishes to thank our business partner, Healthcare Workforce Training Institute, for bringing this issue to our attention.
